Summary

Supports the strategic fundraising efforts of a large University operating unit by coordinating a program or narrow set of programs aimed at targeting donors and prospects for major gifts, exceeding $25,000. Provides broadly based assistance to more senior development staff in support of the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of donors and sponsors.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Under general supervision, coordinates and implements a program and/or narrow set of programs aimed at targeting a donor base and prospects for major gifts exceeding $25,000.
  2. Designs and/or assists in the design, production, and distribution of fundraising materials and case statements; develops, writes, prepares, and disseminates donor correspondence, and writes and/or assists in the writing of solicitation proposals, as appropriate.
  3. Responds to donor inquiries with accurate and timely information; secures donor gifts, and provides donors with relevant materials.
  4. Plans, coordinates, staffs, and facilitates larger promotional and fundraising activities and events, as assigned.
  5. Provides financial stewardship and reporting to donors; ensures appropriate expenditure of donor funds.
  6. Participates in and assists with special events and coordinating event-day logistics, as needed; when appropriate, meets face-to-face with donors and prospects and ensures experience at the University event is satisfactory.
  7. Supervises and trains staff and/or students engaged in support activities, as appropriate.
  8. Organizes and coordinates the activities of volunteers and committees/boards engaged in fundraising activities, as appropriate.
  9. Coordinates and administers the sale of major University assets, where applicable.
  10. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Distinguishing Characteristics

    Position Requires: a) support to senior-level development officers in the execution of fundraising strategies and initiatives targeting major gift donors; b) direct interaction with major gift donors and prospects to resolve questions and concerns and, where applicable, ensure satisfactory event-day experience; c) maintenance of accurate records regarding donors, prospects, gifts, and donations.
