Summary

Under direct supervision, delivers and sets up audio-visual equipment to classrooms, auditoriums, and a variety of other locations. May instruct users in basic equipment operation. Maintains appropriate records and inventory. May duplicate tapes or instructional films and perform minor equipment repairs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Delivers and picks up audio-visual equipment and films to/from lecture halls, labs, and classrooms as requested.
  2. Inspects and performs minor repairs to audio and video equipment.
  3. Operates video and audio equipment to record and copy films and tapes.
  4. Maintains equipment inventory and conducts security checks of equipment.
  5. May demonstrate or instruct others on the use of audio and video equipment.
  6. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; no previous experience required.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and perform repairs to audio and video equipment.
  • Knowledge of inventory management practices.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.

Distinguishing Characteristics

    Position requires: a) Delivering and picking up equipment to classrooms and lecture halls; b) operating equipment to record and copy film and/or tapes; c) inspecting and performing minor repairs to equipment; and d) maintaining equipment inventory.

Conditions of Employment

  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Light physical effort. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

The University of New Mexico provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety.
