Summary

Under general supervision, provides assistance in the development and delivery of training, and preparation and distribution of educational and informational materials within a specialized education program. Provides advisement and support and/or prepares and conducts specified training in accordance with prescribed, standardized objectives and guidelines. Provides input into the development of specific training and/or technical assistance programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provides technical and administrative assistance in the development and preparation of training, education, and informational support materials for delivery to client population.
  2. Provides perspective and client advocacy in the development of specified training and technical assistance projects and programs for the client population.
  3. Prepares and presents training programs on an outreach basis to members of the client population, in accordance with pre-established objectives, parameters, and procedures.
  4. Conducts literature searches in subject area, using both manual and computerized means.
  5. May serve as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
  6. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge and understanding of the specific health, lifestyle, and associated educational needs of the specified client population.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Ability to develop and prepare training/educational materials and informational literature.
  • Ability to effectively interpret needs and act as an advocate for a specified client population.
  • Ability to travel on occasion outside the metropolitan area.
  • Ability to conduct literature searches.
  • Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.

Distinguishing Characteristics

    Position requires: A) preparation and presentation of pre-established outreach training programs in accordance with given procedures and standards; B) use of standard publication methods and applications to prepare training materials; C) use of both manual and automated library and literature search methods and systems; D) client liaison and advocacy.

Conditions of Employment

  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

The University of New Mexico provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety.
