Summary

Directs and manages the business, fiscal management, and commercial services functions for the Division of Continuing Education/Extended University, a major university service entity. Provides leadership and direction to the division's budgeting and financial management activities. Plans, oversees, and coordinates capital and operating expenditures and fiscal systems, and provides recommendations for the generation and development of revenue sources for facility and programmatic operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Directs and oversees the planning, development, and administration of all business/commercial activities, programs, auxiliary enterprises, inventory control, and services of the organization.
  2. Manages and coordinates the financial/fiscal operations of the organization, to include the development and administration of capital and/or operating budgets and expenditures, and the establishment and management of financial control systems.
  3. Coordinates the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports; presents recommendations for programmatic and fiscal changes.
  4. Recommends possible revenue sources for the unit.
  5. Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning; develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
  6. Interacts with Dean and other managers, providing consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations; assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization to ensure efficient operation of the divisional programs.
  7. Manages and oversees the establishment and administration of contractual arrangements with external vendors, concession operators, and/or suppliers; oversees instructor contracts.
  8. Oversees the operations of the UNM continuing Education Conference Center, which schedules clients, coordinates support staff, and maintains and upgrades the existing facility.
  9. Oversees all facets of the daily operations of the organizational unit, ensuring compliance with the University, state, and federal laws, policies, and regulations.
  10. Assists and directs internal departments of the division with all aspects of human resources administration; provides liaison with Human Resources Department.
  11. Supervises personnel associated with the organizational responsibilities of this position; handles hiring, training, performance evaluation, work allocation, and problem solving; makes independent judgments regarding delegation and execution of duties within these units/programs.
  12. Represents the organization at various community and/or business meetings, committees, and task forces; promotes existing and new programs and/or policies.
  13. Responsible for fiscal coordination of contract and/or grant proposals, interim progress reports, final reports and other information as it may relate to main campus entities and funding sources.
  14. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort
