Summary

Under direct supervision, reads course materials to visually and/or learning disabled students. Typically works on-call on a scheduled basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Reads a range of books, notes, manuscripts and other course-related materials to visually impaired, blind, and/or learning disabled students.
  2. Follows defined schedules and adheres to established deadlines.
  3. Speaks clearly and understandably to clients when reading course materials.
  4. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; no previous experience required.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to read and understand a range of college-level course-related material.
  • Ability to speak clearly with easily understood vocal inflection.
  • Ability to follow schedules and meet deadlines.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
