Summary

Under direct supervision, participates as a role-play student in limited-duration workshops designed to facilitate the training of faculty in specified problem-based educational skills. Works on an on-call occasional basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Attends orientation session prior to participation in simulated tutorials; receives information and guidance on the principles of problem-based learning and the role of the simulated student in the training of faculty.
  2. Interacts with the faculty trainee and other simulated students in active learning tutorials based on a specified case study.
  3. Researches and studies assigned learning issues (unanswered questions developed by the group) between tutorial sessions.
  4. Shares information studied with the rest of the group and completes the case.
  5. Participates with the faculty trainee and the faciliator/trainer in the provision of feedback and assessment of the simulated tutorial.
  6. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; no previous experience required.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of the specified field of learning, gained either academically or experientially.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively interact with others in a group learning situation.
  • Knowledge of learning and study principles and techniques.
  • Ability to effectively articulate ideas and observations.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

The University of New Mexico provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety.
