Summary

Performs operational, compliance, financial, and investigative audits of intermediate complexity and provides management advisory services. Work is occasionally detailed and errors may cause delays, disrupt activities, and affect the accuracy of an audit.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develops audit plans and performs initial and follow-up audits in accordance with professional standards.
  2. Evaluates audit findings; prepares and presents the results of audit work and recommendations to management in the form of oral and written communications.
  3. Coordinates and interacts with administrators, faculty, staff, and external audit and law enforcement agencies, as needed.
  4. Consults with and advises university administrators, faculty, and staff on operational and administrative issues.
  5. May supervise and/or lead lower graded staff and/or student employees.
  6. Keeps abreast of university policies and procedures, current developments in accounting and auditing professions, and changes in local, state, and federal laws, as applicable.
  7. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Spreadsheet software skills to quantify and illustrate routine financial reports, comparisons, impacts, and/or projections.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to supervise and train assigned staff.
  • Ability to effectively communicate accounting information, policies, and/or procedures in a manner easily understood by the customer.
  • Ability to persuade and influence others.
  • Knowledge of current changes and/or developments in applicable federal, state, local laws, and university policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to analyze processes and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Knowledge of university and/or public auditing policies, standards, and procedures.

Distinguishing Characteristics

    Position requires: a) Performing operational, compliance, financial and investigative audits of intermediate complexity; b) evaluating audit findings and preparing/presenting the results and recommendations to management; c) performing both initial and follow-up audits; and d) providing management advisory on operational issues.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must be Bondable.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
