Summary

Serves as a member of a management team that implements operation procedures and management of departmental resources. Directs and oversees the development, implementation, and administration of the University's accreditation, program review, institutional self-assessment processes, and appropriate compliance activities. Coordinates the delivery and support for obtaining institutional data, information, and analyses from the unit. Communicates institutional data and other information to a wide variety of constituent's throughout the university to inform and support decision making, problem solving, strategic planning, policy development, accreditation, program review, and institutional self-assessment. May provide human resource administration, budget input, and management.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Participates as a member of management team in planning, problem resolution, and reviewing department performance.
  2. Participates in the design, establishment, and maintenance of an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objectives; oversees recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of unit staff.
  3. Participates in the establishment of short-and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates programmatic and operation effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement.
  4. Provides relevant, timely, and accurate institutional information to university administrators and the university community at large, the external community, and external agencies; provides institution-wide support for obtaining data and information and performing analyses in response to specific needs.
  5. Develops, implements, and oversees the processes and systems that support the university's regional accreditation. Guides and collaborates with faculty, administrators, and departmental staff representatives in accreditation compliance activities.
  6. Monitors, reviews, and advises academic units across the university to ensure consistent compliance with the on-going regional accreditation requirements and the outcomes standards of the institution; advises and supports compliance efforts for programs that have, or seek, professional accreditation.
  7. Advises and supports all institutional academic units regarding on-going requirements and outcomes standards related to Academic Program Review.
  8. Facilitates the development, implementation, and evaluation of integrated institutional self-assessment programs and compliance activities, as appropriate to the objectives of the position.
  9. May oversee the daily operations of the organizational unit, ensuring compliance with university policies and regulations.
  10. Represents the Department to various institutional committees and task forces as well as externally to governmental agencies, vendors, students and their parents, and/or the general public.
  11. Recommends and participates in the development of University policies and procedures; may serve on University planning and policy-making committees.
  12. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of higher education policies, processes, issues, and trends.
  • Knowledge of higher education external reporting processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of university data, definitions, procedures, and external reporting requirements.
  • Integrated knowledge and understanding of higher education accreditation, assessment, and program review practices, methodologies, and tools.
  • Knowledge of higher education institutional self-assessments and student outcomes assessment principles, methods and techniques.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart information to a range of clientele and/or media sources.
  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
  • Ability to plan, manage, and evaluate projects.
  • Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
  • Ability to direct multi-department technical, functional, and administrative staff.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort
