Summary

Under direct supervision, provides general office support involving routine and similar clerical duties requiring limited knowledge of systems or procedures. This is an entry level position which provides training and experience to individuals with no previous office experience and/or to individuals who are disabled.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Opens, sorts, date stamps, and distributes incoming mail; collects, seals, and stamps outgoing mail.
  2. May photocopy, sort, and/or staple documents, as requested.
  3. May file various documents and records as specifically instructed; may retrieve files on request.
  4. May type labels, envelopes, and/or routine forms.
  5. May deliver items to other campus departments.
  6. May sort documents and stuff envelopes for mass mailings.
  7. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; no previous experience required.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
